Responisbilities
- Ensure that the financial elements of the organization are in accord with its vision, mission, values, and strategic planning.
- Oversee annual and long-range operating and capital budgets.
- Recommend policies that maintain and improve the financial health and integrity of the Institute.
- Review and recommend a long-range financial plan for the organization.
- Review and recommend capital expenditures and unbudgeted operating expenditures.
- Ensure that the buildings, land, equipment, and machinery are maintained up-to-date, and that stock-taking of equipment and other consumable materials in the offices, laboratories, and workshops of the Institute is conducted regularly.
- Regularly review the Institute’s revenues, expenditure, and balance sheets related to its continued solvency.
- Approve the annual budget and submit it to the Director-Finance for approval.
- Ensure the smooth running of all tasks associated with the finance function at each level.
- Ensure the Institute maintains proper procedures for banking and record-keeping.
- Preparation of annual audit.
- Identify any illegal, unethical, or incompetent financial dealings engaged in by individuals or groups that the Institute deals with, or financial arrangements that may harm the Institute or someone else.
